LORRAINE & LODEWYK | DULLSTROOM

Brace yourselves peeps… this is going to be a long one!

This wedding was definitely one of the highlights of my journey in this creative world thus far. When Zenobia (Blue Olive Events) sent me the brief I still remember telling my husband “these clients will never book me, fly me and my team up to Dullstroom, just to do their wedding” and I am so lucky that I was wrong. This was one of the best adventures EVER! Thank you again Lorraine, Lodewyk and Zenobia.

I quickly had to learn about the difference in style and availability of hiring items from our province to the next – in the end we shipped everything to Johannesburg, hired a big fancy van (and a trailer) and after an early morning flight and everything squeezed in, we were on route to Dullstroom. My amazeballs husband (a.k.a HR manager, logistics manager, chauffeur, chef, water boy and sound board) was in charge of all the non flower related stresses and the rest of us could just focus on being creative. My team consisted out of Izette from Leipzig Floral and Fennec from Fox & Co – lucky me right?!!

The setting of this wedding is totes amaze! The clear tent was placed in the middle of a paddock and on the day of the wedding it was max 4 degrees (we were freezing our little fingers off!). The air was misty and it truly felt like a scene out of a fairytale – the beautiful princess, her dashing prince and the kingdom showing his best sides for the guests. Black candles, modern gold decor and burgundy colours gave the sense of something classically beautiful – something that will still make you look twice 20 years from now.

We made a lily backdrop where we individually strung 100’s of deep burgundy lilies behind the bridal table, it was so cold Izette lost the needle a few times. There are only highs for me with this wedding but when I saw the gorgeous bride holding her bouquet I was speechless! Lorraine, you looked absolutely amazing – perfection!

This amazing family were so kind and caring throughout this process and I am so grateful that I had the privilege to have but a small part in this joyous celebration.
